Our Chromium Yeast

Our Chromium Yeast is double strength.

Because it is involved with the metabolism of glucose, chromium is needed for energy. It is also vital for the synthisis of cholesterol, fats, and proteins. This essential mineral maintains stable blood sugar levels proper insulin utilization, and can be helpful for people with diabetes, and those with hypoglycemia.

It is also call Glucose Tolerance Factor or GTF.

Studies have shown that low plasma chromium levels can be an indication of coronary heart disease. Additional chromium is neede during pregnancy, because the developing fetus increases demand for this mineral. Chromium supplements can help an expectand mother maintane healthy blood sugar levels during pregnancy.

High quantities of sugar in the diet cause loss of chromium in the body. The ability to maintain normal blood sugar levels is jeopardized by the lack of chromium in our soil and water supply, and by a diet of refined and processed foods.

A number of human and animal studies have found that chromium supplements can improve insulin sensitivity and blood sugar control in the face of insuline resistance, elevated blood glucose levels, impaired glucose tolerance, and diabetes.

Chromium promotes the loss of fat and an increase of lean muscle tissue.

A deficiency in chromium can lead to anxiety, fatigue, glucose intolerance, inadequate metabolism of amino acids, and an increased risk of arteriosclerosis.

**Excess intake can lead to chromium toxicity, which has been associated with dermatitis, gastrointestinal ulcers, and kidney and liver impairment.

Strenuous exercise, high sugar diets and physical trauma result in high chromium losses and increase the need for chromium supplements. Chromium has been also shown to improve lean body mass in humans and certain animals.

A safe and convenient form to use is chromium yeast. Yeasts are able to naturally metabolize inorganic minerals into organic forms. Food grade yeast (saccharomyces cerevisiae) is cultivated in a chromium-rich environment so the yeast accumulates high levels of organic chromium. Brewers yeast naturally contains some chromium but very small amounts compared to chromium yeast.

* Chromium could potentially be toxic if overdosed so 1/2 gram/ 100kg of Horse. 2.5 grams of chromium yeast is considered to be maximum dosage per day for a 550kg horse. Reduce this amount if chromium is included in any vitamin/mineral mix that is also being fed.
